Keen to get as much practice as possible with the new camera, I used New Year's Day as an excuse for the first photo project of the year.
In Scotland, New Year's Day is just as big/relevant as Christmas Day, the reason for this stems back about 400 years when Christmas was banned and New Year became the main winter festival, you can read more about it on this link where someone who actually knows about history can explain it.

For me New Year's Day is pretty much a replica of Christmas Day, in the morning it's about getting the dog a good walk as she will be left alone for a while during the day, it's then off to my elderly parents for a family dinner. This is a fairly traditional West of Scotland "dinner", steak pie, roast beef, etc etc - there's nothing that would impress the TikTok generation, it's a muted celebration in front of the telly.

To reflect the theme of the day I opted for a Fujifilm recipe I found on the 4Pictures facebook page. It is called "bleached Paris" and details are dropped in below. It's a muted look, with subtle colours. The first few shorts are taken at the Lochshore in Kilbirnie as part of a dog walk in a down poor.
